C'est dimanche

C'est dimanche

This was an absolute disaster. The train was delayed for some reason, then when you get to Giverny you need additional transportation to his gardens and the buses for some reason do not line up their schedule with that of the trains. So we waited about an hour at the bar outside the train station and eventually made it to Monet’s house and gardens. Where even though they closed in another hour and a half and we had already bought tickets, they would not let us in because “C’est dimanche”. Then the buses were not going back to the train station any time soon, and when we finally did get to the train station we had to wait another hour for a train back to Paris.

Alas at the end of the day I convinced Kamran to try to go again on Monday. We went, no problems, and it was the most beautiful house I have ever seen in my life. I think maybe on top of being a painter and gardener, Monet could have been a successful interior designer.

The following day Kamran and I went to Versailles to see the palace and gardens because I had not seen enough flowers. Versailles somehow had this overwhelming welcoming feeling that I thought I actually belonged there. I felt extremely comfortable and was joking around that I must be royalty.

The last few nights in Paris we took easy going to different restaurants and speakeasies, ending up with an unfinished bottle of wine outside of the Eiffel tower.

It seemed as though we either had a completely perfect stress free day or scrambling around running everywhere day in Paris. Our flight, was all sorts of crazy. We almost missed it. First of all there was a terrorist attack earlier that morning so the line that went directly to the departures terminal of the airport was closed. So we had to figure out a way to go around that and make it to our flight somehow on time. We ran everywhere. To the metro, through the metro, on the metro, into the airport, and onto the plane.

When finally we made it to freezing Scotland.
